The Toronto Raptors have been mentioned heavily in trade rumors surrounding star point guard Kyle Lowry. While it looks like the two sides are both looking to part ways, the franchise wants to make sure they give Lowry a chance to compete. Right now, the Philadelphia 76ers are at the top of Lowry’s wish list.
According to a report by Keith Pompey of the Philly InquirerWould Lowry like to be traded to the 76ers before the trading deadline.
A source said Kyle Lowry would like to be in Philly. The source believes the Sixers and Raptors may be able to get something done. But when it comes down to it, Toronto most likely wants a few picks, young players and veterans with expiring contracts. “
Lowry has had a solid season with the Raptors so far this year. He has averaged 18.0 points to go per game, along with 6.5 assists and 5.5 rebounds. In addition to those numbers, he shot 46.1 percent of the floor overall and downed 39.5 percent of his three-point attempts.
At 34, Lowry still has quite a bit of good basketball in him. If the 76ers could get him, he’d give them a massive boost offensively.
If a trade happened, Kyle Lowry would slide right in as the starting point guard of the 76ers. Ben Simmons could play more of the ball. When Simmons grabs the ball, Lowry could thrive as a spot-up shooter.
Needless to say, a switch to the 76ers would give Lowry a chance to compete. That’s something the Raptors want to make sure they do. Lowry has meant a lot to their franchise and they want to do the right thing for him.
Other teams that could be in the market to trade for Lowry include the Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat. Any of those three destinations would be ideal for Lowry.
Expect to hear more rumors about the Raptors, 76ers and Kyle Lowry as the trading deadline approaches. Chances are, something will happen soon.
