Random: Pokémon Red is played in someone’s avatar on Twitter

Twitch Plays Pokémon is so 2014 … these days it’s all about play Pokémon Red in someone’s avatar on Twitter.

Yeah, we’re not kidding – Gameloft Montreal programmer Constantin Liétard (@screenshakes) managed to somehow put together a script that then updates his Twitter avatar every 15 seconds and sets out in the 1996 Game Boy classic.

At the time of writing, there are almost over eight thousand responses. Not much has been played out yet as the creator has reset the game a few times to improve command input and add new functionality that saves the frames. The story so far is the roster of the starter pocket monster, Squirtle.

While completing a game in this way may seem like an almost impossible task, Twitch started with Pokémon Red and then completed seven seasons of Pokémon games.

We thought maybe 2021 was going to be a bit wild, but we’d say this crazy idea has already far exceeded our expectations. Are you participating in this new social media experiment? Tell us below.
