Whether that’s good or bad is up to you
Ramlethal Valentine was one of the most popular entrants to Guilty Gear Xrd’s roster, so it wasn’t surprising to see her return in Guilty Gear Strive, although past muscle memories probably won’t do you much good if you played her.
Arc System Works has now released the official Ramlethal starter guide, as she will appear in Strive, and what stands out is how much different about her compared to her debut in the series.
One of the most noticeable changes on display is that she can no longer send and retrieve her amazing words at will, which certainly changes her pressure play compared to Xrd.
Ramlethal can now throw her swords like a giant projectile called Bajoneto that can explode for extra damage in the corner, but to get them back, she must either pick them up herself or wait for them to come after a certain amount of time. .
However, if she gets a wall break, Aries can pick up her swords and get on with combos with ease.
The Dauro launcher is one of her few recurring moves, and looks likely to be her main off-corner starter / extender combo. The Valentine’s sister’s damage output is looking pretty crazy.
However, a handful of moves gets much weaker with one or both swords away from her body, like the new strike move
What most Ramlethal players probably wouldn’t have expected would be a Rekka move, but apparently that’s exactly what she got with Erarlumo, allowing her to show off her martial arts up close.
How different Aries will be in actual matches remains to be seen in the open beta coming next week, but she’s certainly not in the same boat as Sol, Ky or the other mainstays of the series. ArcSys has previously released new starter guides for Zato-1 and Millia Rage, as well as leading up to the event.
