Ram trash talks Ford on Twitter ahead of the launch of the new F-150 Raptor

The truck wars have spilled over to Twitter.

Ford is preparing to unveil the latest version of its high-quality off-road pickup F-150 Raptor on Wednesday, but rival Ram has not.

Originally launched in 2010, the Raptor faced no direct competition until the Ram 1500 TRX debuted for 2021 with the most powerful engine ever offered in a production pickup. The 702 hp supercharged V8 puts the latest 450 hp turbocharged Raptor in jeopardy.

Ram made this point in response to Ford’s message announcing the Raptor’s upcoming unveiling with the text “POP THE HOOD”.

If you open the hood of the TRX and lift the hood, you will see an imate of a T. rex with a bird of prey in its mouth.

Ford has not specified what kind of engine the new Raptor will have, so it remains to be seen if it will even compete with the TRX on that front. However, the TRX offers similar driveability and maneuverability to the previous Raptor, but with a higher weight than the aluminum body Ford, which is offset by the extra power. However, there are rumors that Ford is planning a version of the Raptor that borrows the 760bhp supercharged V8 from the Mustang Shelby GT500.

This isn’t the first time a Stellantis brand has attempted to rain at one of Ford’s parades. Last July, Jeep debuted the 470 hp V8-powered Wrangler Rubicon 392, just hours before Ford’s highly anticipated unveiling of the 2021 Bronco, which is only offered with turbocharged four- and six-cylinder engines… for now.
