Raiders trade OL Gabe Jackson to Seahawks

Gabe JacksonThe period with the Raiders has come to an end. ESPN’s Adam Schefter Reports (via Twitter) that the Raiders will trade the offensive lineman for the Seahawks for a draft pick for 2021. Tom Pelissero of NFL.com tweets that the Raiders get a pick from the fifth round.

It seemed inevitable that Jackson was on his way out of Vegas; we’ve heard for several months that the team planned to cut off the attacking guard. However, we learned earlier in the day that the Raiders were still the veteran shopping, and it sounded like the organization had a handful of potential trading partners.

Jackson has two more years left before the $ 56 million five-year extension he signed with the Raiders in 2017. Jackson, a third-round pick in 2014, has spent all of his seven pro seasons with the Raiders. He has been a full-time starter since his rookie year and has only missed more than three games once, in 2019 when he missed five.

Jackson has always been a solid but not spectacular starter, however Jon Gruden felt he could no longer justify the double-digit million AAV of his contract. They bought him around this time last year, but nothing was done and he started all 16 games for Gruden in 2020.

The Raiders line of attack has already seen some sales this low season. The team ended up as a trade center Rodney Hudson earlier this week, a move reportedly “in a panicRaider’s target Kyle Long (who eventually signed with the Chiefs).

The Seahawks had been looking for some kind of offensive line during this off-season, although they were in Kevin Zeitler and Joe ThuneyThis trade leaves Seattle with just three choices in this year’s design.
