Rafa Márquez will have to wait until July to know if he will return to Barcelona

BARCELONA – Rafael Márquez will have to wait a few months to find out if he will have the chance to return to Barcelona this time as a Barcelona youth football coach, according to several sources reported to ESPN.

It won’t be until July that no major decisions will be made at the Barça club, so the Mexican’s arrival, if any, would be with a view to next season.

Márquez was one of the former Barcelona footballers to publicly thank Joan Laporta during the latest election campaign, restoring the confidence the president placed in him in 2003, when he took him on for the Monaco club.

Márquez was enrolled in the lower tiers of Alacalá, the Madrid club where he has been directing Cadet A since November last year, until a few days ago, and yesterday used social networks to publicly announce his decision.

The Mexican wasted no time after hanging up his shoes and preparing to stay connected with the football world. He holds the A and B licenses from the UEFA coach, although he is still shaping the Pro license, which would open the doors to professional banks.

Márquez is currently in Mexico, although he plans to return to Spain in the coming weeks to continue his preparation and is waiting to prepare for the next season. At Barça? We shall see.
