The Madrid basketball derby with a Puerto Rican twist can be seen in Puerto Rico.
The ACB League, of Spain, announced on Saturday that the meeting between Movistar Estudiantes – where Mayaguez point guard José Juan Barea plays – and Real Madrid will be televised next Sunday at 1:30 PM (Puerto Rico time). ACB League Facebook page.
The broadcast is free and exclusive to Puerto Rico, according to the agency.
“It is a good opportunity for all fans to see JJ Barea in action, no less than against the leader of the Endesa League,” the league said in a press release.

Barea debuted last Wednesday with 14 points, three assists and one rebound, when Estudiantes was beaten 79-73 against Casademont Zaragoza. The Puerto Rican canastero played 24 minutes and 29 seconds.
The national team captain returned to the field after 162 days without playing, after the limited minutes he had with the Dallas Mavericks in the final leg of the last NBA season and his departure from the Texas team in November.
Barea, 36, spent 14 seasons in the NBA, including 11 with the Mavericks and three with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
This is Barea’s first experience in Spain.
