Puerto Rican Alanis Sophia is eliminated from American Idol

Young Puerto Rican Alanis Sophia did not make it to the Top 12 of American Idol and was eliminated from the singing competition.

After positioning herself among the 16 favorites yesterday, Alanis didn’t get the necessary votes to continue on the reality show tonight. Of the 12 selected participants, 10 were chosen by public vote and the jury saved two more.

Before she knew the result, the young woman, born in San Juan and a Florida state resident, sang Demi Lovato’s song “ Heart Attack, ” to which she received mixed reactions from the judging panel, which today included Lionel Richie, Katy. Perry. and Paula Abdul.

Abdul, who was a judge on the popular show from 2002 to 2009, appeared tonight to replace Luke Bryan, who tested positive for Covid.
