PUA checks are paid until April 5, 2021

Secretary of the Department of Labor, Carlos Rivera, clarified today that Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA, for the acronym) benefits will no longer be paid from April 5, 2021.

As he said in an interview with Radio Isla, this date is set in the new law signed by President Donald Trump that includes $ 600 checks for citizens.

The PUA will officially run until March 14, but the final payments will run until April 5.

Rivera explained that the legislation “also provides for an exit process for citizens in the sense that they make some sort of plan or transition to enter the labor market.”

This emergency economic measure extended the PUA by 11 weeks.

The Minister of Labor also explained that the extension applies to both people who have already received the benefits and those who now want to apply.
