According to the official PlayStation Status website, parts of PSN are unavailable and experiencing problems. More specifically, the PlayStation Status website reports that Sony knows that PS5, PS4, PS3 and PlayStation Vita players “have problems launching games, apps and network functions”. And according to the support page, these issues have been going on for several hours, and at the moment there is no message when they will be resolved.
While gaming and social elements of PSN are experiencing issues, all other aspects of PSN – account management, PlayStation Now, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, PlayStation Music and PlayStation Direct – are all just running. Problems with purchasing and downloading games from PlayStation Store are beginning to surface.
At the time of publishing, it is unclear how common or what the problem is, and as noted, it is also unclear when a solution will be live. Usually these issues are resolved quickly, but this has been going on for several hours at this point, which may indicate that it is a bigger problem that Sony may need more time to fix.
That said, this is a story in development so we’ll be sure to update it as soon as official updates come in. At the moment, none of the official PlayStation social media accounts have addressed the issues so updates are unlikely to come this way, but the PlayStation Status website is in real-time and will provide the said updates.
