Securing a PS5 is not an easy task. Low stock, super-fast bots and high demand make the purchase of the new Sony console virtually impossible. While more PS5 restock is promised for this week, buying a PS5 is still a frustrating experience.
However, there are a few things you can do right now to tip the scales in your favor during the next PS5 replenishment. By creating login accounts, following the right influencers on Twitter, and staying up to date with the latest news, you can increase your chances of scoring a PS5.
While we can’t guarantee that you’ll get a PS5 during the next replenishment, if you follow these tips, you’ll be one of the first to know when a new stock is happening and what to do while you wait in that virtual queue.
Follow these Twitter accounts
Prior to the pandemic, getting a new console on release day meant waiting in a physical line with other gamers hoping to be one of the first shoppers in a store. Today, everyone shops online and we all have a common enemy: the bot. Scalpers use bots to buy up as much PS5 inventory as possible. They then sell those new consoles at extraordinary prices.
The best way to crush a bone is to simply not buy from scalpers. To do that, you need to remain vigilant 24/7. Twitter accounts such as @ Wario64 and @ PS5StockAlerts are great at providing updates on availability. It’s also worth following the Twitter accounts of your favorite stores, such as Best Buy Newegg, and WalmartKeep these feeds on your radar 24/7 and you can also sign up for email alerts from some of your favorite stores.
Create login accounts now
Normally we do not recommend creating login accounts with different retailers. However, having an account with your address and credit card information can mean the difference between scoring a console or being left out. If you have an account handy, you can quickly checkout with your new console, should you be lucky enough to get one.
So go ahead and open that Walmart, GameStop, Sony Direct and Amazon account.
Arrive early and don’t give up
We have been tracking PS5 restocking since launch and we can safely say that restocking events can happen any time of the day. While some retailers give you a few hours notice, others may give you a 10-minute warning. The moment you discover an upcoming replenishment, bookmark that page and load that website a few minutes before the replenishment takes place.
In the case of the Sony Direct Store, you have to form a virtual queue before you can shop for the PS5. Often times your “waiting time” can be hours. But don’t worry as the estimates can get shorter quickly. In the case of the Sony Direct Store, we’ve found that their wait time estimates are often on the short side, despite messages estimating wait times of over an hour.
However, it’s worth noting that just because you’re in line to buy the console doesn’t mean you’ll actually get one. We’ve created numerous virtual lines at Sony Direct and we have yet to secure a console.
Know where to click
Below is a list of PS5 landing pages at all major retailers. Each time a replenishment happens, these are the pages you want to constantly monitor. (Unless, of course, the seller provides a link to a new landing page). Make sure you know which page to check and check it regularly.
