Protesters clash with LAPD at the Breonna Taylor rally in Hollywood

Protesters marking the anniversary of Breonna Taylor’s death collided with police in Hollywood late Saturday – with a wild video of a police car driving off with someone clinging to his hood.

At least 200 people went to Hollywood and Vine late Saturday to seek justice for Taylor, who was fatally shot by police in her Louisville, Kentucky, in a botched raid a year ago, KABC said.

At one point, a group of black-clad protesters – some holding umbrellas as the smoke filled the air around them – was filmed blocking a row of at least six LAPD police cars trying to get through.

After one protester blocked the way from the front car, another came and hit the hood – and both then climbed the hood, video made by Sean Carmitchel shows.

The car then drove off, with one of the protesters managing to jump off, but the other remained on the hood while the police car pulled away, chased by a group of screaming onlookers.

“Holy st!” someone was heard shouting, along with repeated exclamations, “Medic! Medic! Medic! Medic! “

Carmitchel later said that the protester was on the car not seriously injured. The Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center told KABC it had few details about the incident.

It came during a night of tense clashes with police in riot gear, the station said.

Pictures also showed graffiti scribbled around the area, including “die pigs” and “fk 12”, a common anti-police message used during protests.

In the early morning hours of March 13, 2020, in the early morning hours of March 13, 2020, Taylor’s front door was penetrated by officers from Louisville. Her friend Kenneth Walker fired his gun once and later said he feared an intruder might enter the apartment.

An officer was hit and he and two other officers fired 32 shots into the apartment, hitting Taylor five times.

A grand jury charged an officer in September on the charge of willful threat for shooting into a neighbor’s apartment, but no officers were charged in connection with Taylor’s death.

A Kentucky judge signed an injunction last week to definitively close a criminal case against Walker for firing at the officer.

Walker filed a federal lawsuit against Louisville police on Friday alleging that his constitutional rights had been violated in the botched raid.
