The Republic’s Attorney General Raúl Melara and the leaders of various political parties are meeting at a prosecutor’s office this Monday morning to address the situation of violence committed Sunday night when an FMLN caravan was attacked with bullets .

According to prosecution sources, New Ideas was the only political institution that had not confirmed its presence at the Melara rally, as the CD joined the rally at the last minute.

Meanwhile, representatives of the parties who arrived at FGR headquarters in time agreed in their earlier statements that the attack was a reprehensible act.

The representatives of the various political parties condemned the attacks and murders of the militants of the Frente Farabundo Martí para la Liberación Nacional (FMLN) party that took place on Sunday evening. These assessments were given this morning as they entered the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) to meet with prosecutor Raúl Melara.

In this regard, PDC’s Rodolfo Parker said, “The fact is that we are absolutely sorry for our souls, it is reprehensible and as Christian Democrats we sympathize with the pain it has caused them and for the family, for the political institutions. , it means mourning for the democracy that cost us so much blood to build ”.

“The hatred that is being built from the highest realms has become a reality and could materialize even more, and this hate campaign must stop,” Parker warned.

The representative of the GANA party, Mario Tenorio, also considered these events to be unbearable, “these kinds of events are unbearable, they are unacceptable and the disturbing thing is that they are taking place in the context of the political campaign, so we as GANA parliamentary group condemn this case and we hope that the institutionality really works and that responsibilities can be deduced from the case ”.

In the same sentence, Erick Salguero of ARENA expressed his opinion, stating that “we politicians and the president should not have any hate speech.”

Salguero took the opportunity to request mediation from the United Nations and the Organization of American States (OAS) throughout the remainder of the campaign.

Two people were killed and at least two injured in the armed attack on left-wing militants in central San Salvador on Sunday evening. The prosecutor’s office reported the arrest of three suspects in the case.

The event triggered the ruling of the country’s political and economic class, along with international organizations condemning the attack.

At a press conference outside Rosales Hospital, FMLN general secretary Óscar Ortiz described the first statements made by the president of the republic, Nayib Bukele, as repugnant after the armed attack on militants of that party.
