Prosecutor Confirms That Among Inmates Linked To Attack On FMLN Militants Are Health Agents | News from El Salvador

Raúl Melara reiterated that three suspects have been arrested in the case, killing two people.

“The information I am dealing with so far is that one of the affected persons is from the Department for the Protection of Significant Personalities (PPI) assigned to the Ministry of Health (Minsal), the other is a motorist from Minsal and there is a third, he is a prominent private security agent in the Minsal, ”Attorney General Raúl Melara said Monday in relation to those arrested for the attack on FMLN militants committed on Sunday.

Melara said the attack “killed more than two political party supporters, killed two Salvadorans yesterday, it’s something we all regret”.

The prosecutor confirmed that three people are currently in detention and two more in detention. He also said they classify this case a little confusingly to the extent that there are injuries on both sides of the case.

Melara explained that a new inspection had taken place on the spot this Monday morning; He also said there was a search of the Health Department facilities where the blue vehicle is parked, from which three people involved in the altercation got out.

“We’re performing a different kind of diligence that lets us know what happened,” he said.

“Today we classify it as an act of bigotry, we are clearly in a period of political campaign, but we want to see it as an act of bigotry that shouldn’t happen again,” he reasoned.

The public prosecutor made statements at the end of the meeting with the leaders of the various political parties, in which there was no representation of New Ideas. The official said he did not know the reasons for the absence of that political institution, as he assured that “everyone was invited”.
