Priyanka Chopra announces she will open an Indian restaurant in New York City: ‘I am delighted to present you SONA’
Priyanka Chopra has announced that she will open a restaurant called SONA in New York City in late March.
The 38-year-old actress made the news public by posting three images on her Instagram account on Saturday.
The former Miss World wrote a long note in the caption of the post expressing her enthusiasm for her new business venture.

Chopra began her message by writing, “I’m excited to present to you SONA, a new NYC restaurant that I’ve poured my love for Indian food into.”
She then explained the concept behind her restaurant, noting that “SONA is the epitome of timeless India and the flavors I grew up with.”
The Isn’t It Romantic actress stressed that she strived to take guests “on a culinary journey through my amazing country.”

The same day, Chopra’s business partner Maneesh K. Goyal posted a message on his own Instagram account to express his feelings about the soon-to-open restaurant.
The restaurateur stressed that SONA was not planned by one person in particular and wrote, “Opening a restaurant is definitely a team effort.”
He then spoke of Chopra’s commitment to providing a space for her culture to be appreciated, writing, “There is no one better – and bolder – personifies the ‘global Indian’ than Pri.”
Goyal also noted that Chopra was very hands-on while developing the restaurant’s concept.
“From the design to the menu, the music and even the name, Priyanka has her fingerprints all over SONA,” he wrote.

In addition to her recent efforts as a restaurateur, Chopra currently has several film projects in the pipeline.
The actress will lead the cast of the upcoming romantic drama film Text for You, in which she will perform alongside Outlander star Sam Heughan and singer Celine Dion.
The main photography of the project began in October 2020 and moved to post-production this year.
The entertainment industry figure has also been added to the cast of the upcoming Matrix movie; her role has not yet been specified.
While the feature was initially scheduled to be released in May this year, it was delayed to December 2022 before the premiere date was moved to December 22 of this year.
