She rose to fame after winning Miss World in 2000, before becoming a hugely popular movie star in her native India.
And Priyanka Chopra, 38, continues to exude captivating glamor as she graces the cover of Elle UK’s March issue and poses in a series of fitness ensembles.
In the accompanying interview, the movie star admitted to being ‘shocked’ when her 28-year-old husband Nick Jonas proposed to her after just two months of dating.

In her pre-release shoot, the star proudly showcases her enviable toned frame in a series of ab-wearing crop tops, paired with shorts and loose-fitting bottoms.
Away from her athletic shoot, the beauty queen spoke about her whirlwind romance with American heartthrob Nick, which began in May 2018.
On July 19 of that year – a day after Priyanka celebrated her birthday – Nick proposed while enjoying a romantic vacation on the Greek island of Crete.
Speaking of the proposal, the star said, “I didn’t expect the proposal at the time … It was two months! I thought it was going to happen, but it was still a complete shock. [But] I relinquished control and just carried on with it. ‘

She shared how their romance developed, explaining: ‘We’ve only met sporadically for about two years. We were texting and stuff, and maybe there was a part of me that wanted something serious.
‘But I was taking a break from guys at that point. I didn’t want anyone romantic. But there’s always been something about Nick and that’s why we always stayed in touch wherever we went.
“What you should know about my husband is that he gets what he wants when he makes up his mind! If he knows, he knows. There is such sublime confidence in it that you can’t help but say, “OK.” ‘
The pair would then tie the knot in a lavish ceremony at Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodphur in December 2018, ending a life-changing year.
Now, says Priyanka, they are working on the challenge of making sure they see each other every three weeks as they stay in different parts of the world through their busy careers.

She said to Elle, “We see each other every three weeks. Wherever we are in the world, we fly together for a few days at least once a month. It was our rule when we just got married. Otherwise we would never see each other. ‘
Marriage wasn’t the only recent big change for Priyanka, who had to start her career all over again after leaving the superstar in India for a new life in the US.
‘The audition process was taboo in India at the time, [especially] when you become a great actor, ”she said. Now it has changed a lot, but 10 years ago auditioning wasn’t something you did.
‘But [in Hollywood] it was the culture, so I had to learn that. I learned that I cannot rest on my laurels and that I had to walk into a room and introduce myself to people without feeling entitled.
‘Just because much of the world might know me, that [doesn’t mean] everyone would. It is always difficult to start a new career. And I have fully dealt with [moving to America] like a new career.

‘If you think about it, I’ve only been an actor in the US for five years. I’ve just started the job I really want. It takes time in any career. ‘
Going for gold in Hollywood also meant potentially breaking down barriers as one of the few South Asian actresses in prominent lead roles outside the continent.
“I think there is so much room for Indian talent,” she said. But it will require a mobilization of our community to support each other rather than bring each other down.
‘Me and Mindy [Mindy Kaling], that’s how this collaboration came about. [She will be starring alongside Kaling in the first-ever female-led comedy with a completely South Asian cast]

“I was like,” I want to create opportunities as a producer for South Asian people in Hollywood, just like I never did. ” I had to fight for it.
‘I had to say,’ I don’t want to do the extra Indian accent. If my character was born and raised in the UK or the US, why would she talk like that? Why should you wear a bindi? “
It’s a stupid, stereotypical thing. I’ve braved a lot of that and now I’m reaching a point in Hollywood where my culture is my possession rather than my definition. ‘
While she continues to make strides in Hollywood, Priyanka, who recently released her memoir Unfinished, is retiring more when it comes to social media.
She said: ‘My relationship with social media has changed in the last four to five years. I’m certainly a lot more wary now. I don’t interact that much.
‘[Before], if I wasn’t sleeping or if I was bored in a trailer, I started a Q&A with fans, or went live on Instagram. I am much more careful [now]. It broke my heart a little bit. The sequence of all this, how easy it is to take something trivial and make it that big … ‘
