Prince Philip’s funeral attendance list released

Buckingham Palace has released the list of who will attend Prince Philip’s funeral in a chapel in Windsor Castle on Saturday.

With only 30 in attendance – a list kept short by UK rules of social aloofness – it becomes a very intimate and very regal affair.

Here’s a rundown of who’s going:

QUEEN ELIZABETH

Philip’s widow of more than 70 years, Queen Elizabeth, will of course be present.

She has had a firm hand in planning the funeral, even forbidding those in attendance from wearing military uniforms to spare her son Prince Andrew and grandson Prince Harry the embarrassment of standing out as both have been forced to step down from royal duties.

PRINCE CHARLES AND FAMILY

Elizabeth and Philip’s eldest, heir to the throne Prince Charles – who was photographed almost in tears on Thursday viewing the floral tribute to his “Daddy” – will be attending with his wife, Camilla.

Charles’ two sons with Princess Diana – heir apparent to Prince William and Prince Harry, who landed on Sunday – will also be in attendance.

William will have his wife Kate Middleton by his side, but Harry’s wife, Meghan Markle, is seven months pregnant with their second child and lives at home in Los Angeles.

The brothers will not walk side by side at the funeral, a decision that Buckingham Palace says has nothing to do with the rift between them and their wives over Megxit.

PRINCESS ANNE AND FAMILY

Elizabeth and Philip’s second eldest child, Princess Anne, will be attending with her retired Royal Navy officer husband, Sir Timothy Laurence.

Anne 70, had recently praised her father’s ‘legacy that inspires us all’.

Anne and Timothy’s two children will also be present. They are Peter Phillips, 43, the Queen’s eldest grandchild, who will be there alone, and Zara. 39 – The Queen’s eldest granddaughter – who goes with husband Mike Tindall.

PRINCE ANDREW AND FAMILY

Next of the Queen and Philip’s children is scandal-ridden Prince Andrew, 61, who will be in attendance without a plus-one and without a uniform, although he had hoped to wear one before his mother had the non-uniform edict pronounced.

He had retired from the high-ranking Royal Navy because of his friendship with pedophile financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Both his daughters and his ex, Sarah Ferguson, will be in attendance. Princess Beatrice, 32, will be there with her one-year-old husband, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi. Princess Eugenie, 31, will be attending with her three-year-old husband, Jack Brooksbank – who named their son after Philip in February.

PRINCE EDWARD AND FAMILY

Finally, Elizabeth and Philip’s fourth and youngest child, Prince Edward, will be in attendance with his Countess, Sophie, and their two children, Louise, 17, and James, 13.

Sophie was especially moved when she visited her mother-in-law the day after Philip’s death and then said to reporters in tears, “the queen has been wonderful.”

Who will take the other ten seats?

THE EXTENDED ROYAL FAMILY

The son of the Queen’s sister Margaret, David Linley, second Earl of Snowdon, 59 – a favorite cousin of the Queen, is given one of the remaining seats.

So does a favorite niece, Lady Sarah Chatto, 54, who is Margaret’s daughter. She will be attending with her husband, Daniel.

Further down the list are three of the Queen’s cousins, Prince Richard, Prince Edward and Princess Alexandra.

The list is rounded off by three German relatives of Philips: Prince Bernhard, Prince Donatus and Prince Philipp.

Finally, a good friend of Philip’s, Penelope Eastwood, Countess Mountbatten of Burma, will be in attendance.
