Forget Oprah – James Corden is available to listen.
The host of ‘The Late Late Show’ took recent California transplant Prince Harry on a tour of Los Angeles, hopping on a double-decker bus for afternoon tea while Corden pretended to show Harry homes of the rich and famous, including what he suspected it could’ve been David Schwimmer’s residence.
Although Corden is making his way through the LA real estate, he and Harry stopped by the real house in “The Fresh Price of Bel-Air,” where Harry impressed the CBS host by rapping the show’s iconic theme song. .
While there, Harry and Corden met the family who live in the rectory and joked about buying it from them. Although he didn’t pick up the coveted property, Harry used the bathroom.
Corden also spoke to Harry about why he and now-pregnant wife Meghan Markle not only left the UK, but chose to resign from their royal duties.
“It never went away – it was stepping back instead of stepping down,” Harry, 36, clarified to Corden. “It was a very difficult environment, as I think a lot of people have seen. We all know what the British press can be like, and it destroyed my sanity. I was like, ‘This is toxic.’
“So I did what any husband and father would do, I have to get my family out of here.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex traded England for a $ 14 million estate in Montecito, California, to raise their young son Archie and their growing family. Despite the move across the Pond, Harry insisted that he and Meghan, 39, should not give up their duties.
‘But we never ran away. And as for me, whatever decisions are made on that side, I will never walk away, ”he said. “I will always contribute, but my life is a public service, so wherever I am in the world it will be the same.”
Harry’s conversation with Corden echoed his and Meghan’s official statement refuting Queen Elizabeth II’s announcement that the duo had resigned. In the brief comment, the couple said they were “committed” to a life of service as it is “universal.”
Meghan briefly appeared on the duo’s tour to FaceTime Harry, whom she calls “Haz”, to avoid succumbing to Corden’s pressure to buy the “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” house.
“I think we’ve done enough moving,” she joked.
While they won’t be moving into the famous mansion, Harry paid tribute to the sitcom by rapping the famous intro with a little help from Tony-winning Corden.
