Prince Harry sent Charles a ‘personal’ note for the trip to the UK: report

Prince Harry reportedly wrote Father Charles a “very personal” letter prior to returning home to the UK – the only way he could reach him after a “complete communication failure”.

Harry – who lamented to Oprah Winfrey that his father had stopped taking his calls – wrote the message from his California mansion before flying to Grandfather Prince Philip’s funeral, The Mirror said.

He was “forced to write letters” because of a “complete communication failure,” a source close to Harry told the British newspaper.

The Duke of Sussex had previously admitted to Gayle King that an initial phone call to his father in the wake of his explosive Oprah-all was “unproductive.”

In his letter, Harry, 36, reaffirmed his “reasons for leaving life in the UK” as a senior royal, while pledging to “respect the institution” of the monarchy, sources told The Mirror.

After Philip’s funeral on Saturday, Harry was given personal time with his father and met him and his brother, Prince William, at Harry’s former British home, Frogmore Cottage, according to numerous British reports.

They were initially joined by William’s wife, supposedly “peacemaker” Kate Middleton, but she left after about two hours so the brothers and their father could resolve their differences, sources told The Sun.

“Harry felt clearly outnumbered as there are three of them and only one of them wanted it to be on his own property so badly,” said a source of the Frogmore meeting.

Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank – who currently live in the cottage – ‘made themselves scarce’ when the group arrived and ‘hammered things apart,’ a source told the paper.

As a sign of the suspicion Harry sparked with his TV interview, Charles, 72, and William, 38, insisted on meeting him, a source told MailOnline.

“It was important to Charles and William that they were both there together. It means that nothing talked about can be misinterpreted in the future, ”a source told the outlet.

Another source told the outlet that it was just the first in one of many “baby steps” in reconciliation efforts.
