Prince Harry is expected to attend his grandfather Prince Philip’s funeral in the UK – his first trip home since his famous departure from the royal family, a source told The Post Friday.
But it’s unclear whether heavily pregnant Meghan Markle – who is expecting the couple’s second child in early summer – will join Harry, even though she wants to be by his side, the source said.
Her ability to fly from Sussex’s California home to England for the nearly 12 hours will depend on her doctor’s orders and the airline’s guidance, the source added.
But Harry wouldn’t miss the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral for the world.
“Harry was extraordinarily close to his grandfather,” a British royal source told The Post. “He will be there, of course, no matter how difficult the relations between the Sussexes and the family.”
Harry’s anticipated return to his native country comes after he and Markle separated from the Royal Family in January 2020 – and weeks after their bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey at Buckingham Palace.
In the two-hour sit-down, Markle revealed that someone in the royal family wondered just how dark their son Archie’s skin could be.
In February, Harry said he keeps in touch with his grandparents through Zoom.
“We zoomed them in a few times,” he told presenter James Corden. “They saw Archie running around.”
The Duke of Sussex laughed when he remembered that instead of clicking to leave the conversation, Prince Philip slammed his laptop.
“He just goes ‘deaf’!” Harry said, as if slamming a laptop.
All senior members of the Royal Family are expected to attend Prince Philip’s funeral at Windsor Castle amid the COVID-19 pandemic, with a service at St. George’s Chapel – where Harry and Meghan were married in 2018.
A representative for the Sussexes was not available for comment.
