Prince Charles has posted a montage of photos from Prince Philip’s nearly 100-year-old life in a moving tribute to his ‘sweet dad’.
Charles, the 72-year-old heir to the British heir to the throne, used his official Clarence House social media pages on Tuesday to share the tribute.
“My sweet daddy was a very special person,” he wrote in an Instagram caption, quoting his own speech from Saturday praising his late father’s “most remarkable, devoted service”.
To rousing piano music, Charles’ editing began with his mother and father, Queen Elizabeth II, with him and his sister, Princess Anne, when they were both young children.
Many more of the other 37 snaps used for the video show Philip enjoyed tender moments with his family – often causing the Queen and his children to laugh at what grandson Prince William called his “naughty sense of humor.”
Others showed Philip in a more formal setting, with Clarence House noting how the late Duke of Edinburgh was “associated with 992 organizations throughout his life, whether as president, patron, honorary member or in some other capacity”.
“This week @TheRoyalFamily looks back on these causes that The Duke was passionate about,” the caption read.
Philip, the longest-serving royal consort in British history, died at home at Windsor Castle on Friday, just two months before his 100th birthday. His funeral is Saturday.
