Premier League announces 40 positives for COVID-19 in the past test week

The English league reveals the highest number of positive cases for the new Coronavirus in the 2020-21 campaign, but hopes to continue with the planned calendar

The Premier League revealed that 40 positive cases were detected for COVID-19 in the last testing period, the highest figure so far this season.

Via its official website, the English competition reported that between December 28 and January 3, 40 positive results were detected among the more than 900 players who have undergone the test together with the members of the various technical and management bodies.

During this time, competition on the island has had to suspend three games due to the alarming increase in coronavirus cases and as yet it is unknown when these commitments will take place.

Players or several members of a club who test positive COVID-19 will have to undergo a period of isolation of at least 10 days and the Premier League assured it trusts its sanitary protocols, although it pointed out that the identities of the positive cases will not be made public.
