A Michigan postal worker was viciously attacked by two enraged women – as an onlooker accused them of stealing incentive checks in the postman’s van, video footage.
But the US Postal Service’s law enforcement department says there is “no indication” that Thursday’s attack on River Village Apartment in Flint was linked to so-called economic impact payments.
The wild footage shows two women repeatedly beating and hitting a US Postal Service employee while lying on the ground.
The employee tries to fight back while her hair is forcibly pulled – while one of the women accuses the postman of beating her first, the clip shows.
“You hit me first!” the woman screams. “You hit me first!”
The bystander recording the footage, which went viral on social media, can then be heard claiming that the two women were in her dented van after the postman’s stimulation checks.
“Bro, you hit the postman!” says the man. “They’re trying to get that stimulus … this sh-t is serious!”
Another spectator can also be heard saying “you are going to jail,” according to the chaotic clip.
A woman has since been arrested in the attack, Flint police told The Post on Friday. Detective Sgt. Tyrone Booth refused to identify the suspect until she was charged.
Booth also declined to say what triggered the alleged attack, including whether stimulus checks had anything to do with the incident.
“We are investigating an attack involving a postal worker in the United States,” said Booth. “An arrest has been issued and we are looking for additional warrants for an additional arrest.”
Detectives are now viewing the footage as part of their ongoing investigation, Booth said.
“We heard the same thing you saw in the video,” he said.
The unidentified women rushed off in an SUV after the alleged attack.
“They hit this postman’s car and jumped out,” says the man who was filming the attack when the clip ended.
In a statement to The Post Friday, the United States Postal Inspection Service said the “ safety and well-being ” of all USPS employees was a top priority, while adding no evidence showing that the attack on the camera on some was related to stimulation controls.
“Postal inspectors are aware of the incident involving an employee of the postal service,” the statement said. “There is no evidence that this incident was related to the disbursement of the economic impact payments. The investigation is ongoing. “
Flint police said in a statement Friday afternoon that they were cooperating with the federal agency in the investigation. Arrest warrants for two suspects in the video will be handed over to Genesee County prosecutors Friday, police said.
The postman has since been recovered, the police said.
“She’s fine,” Booth said on Friday.
