Pope Francis encourages spreading the message of divine mercy

Pope Francis encouraged the spread of devotion to divine mercy around the world on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the first revelation of Jesus to Saint Faustina Kowalska, which took place on February 22, 1931 in the nun’s room in the monastery from Płock (Poland).

This is what the Holy Father said in a letter to the Bishop of Płock, Bishop Piotr Libera, expressing his spiritual connection to the faithful who celebrate this anniversary.

In the letter, the Pope shared the joy of the Church in Płock and encouraged that “this special event is known all over the world and lives in the hearts of the faithful”.

In addition, the Holy Father remembered the words that Saint Faustina received from Jesus and that she wrote in her diary: “Mankind will not find peace until it confidently passes into my grace.”

Along these lines, the Pope encouraged all believers to “ask Christ for the gift of grace” and to “have the courage to return to Jesus, to find his love and grace in the sacraments” for “his nearness and “to experience tenderness” to “be more capable of mercy, patience, forgiveness, and charity.”

Finally, the Holy Father emphasized in the letter that Saint John Paul II, the apostle of mercy, wished all the inhabitants of the earth to know the message of God’s merciful love.

For this, he quoted the words uttered by the Polish Pope in 2002 during a visit to his homeland: “This fire of grace must be transferred to the world”, because “in the grace of God the world will find peace, and mankind, luck “.

In this sense, Pope Francis greeted the Polish faithful at the close of Sunday Angelus on February 21 and reminded that the sanctuary of Płock, in Poland, ‘where ninety years ago the Lord Jesus manifested himself to Saint Faustina Kowalska and gave her a special message of divine mercy ”.

“Let us open our hearts to Him and say with faith, Jesus, I trust in You, the Holy Father invited.
