Pope accepts Cardinal Robert Sarah’s resignation

Pope Francis accepts the resignation of Cardinal Robert Sarah as Prefect of the Congregation for divine adoration and the discipline of the sacraments.

Pope Francis on Saturday accepted the resignation of Cardinal Robert Sarah from the post of Prefect of the Congregation for Divine Adoration and the Discipline of the Sacraments.

Cardinal Sarah Guinea, born in Guinea in 1945, turned 75 years ago on June 15 last year. He was ordained a priest on July 20, 1969, and in 1979, at the age of 34, was appointed Archbishop of Conakry by John Paul II. In 2001 he was appointed Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples, and in 2010 Benedict XVI was appointed President of the Pontifical Council “Cor Unum”. In the same year, he was appointed cardinal with the title of the Deaconry of St. John Bosco in Via Tuscolana, Rome. On November 23, 2014, Pope Francis appointed him prefect of the Congregation for Divine Adoration and Discipline of the Sacraments. He participated in the March 2013 conclave electing Pope Francis.
