Police order to investigate a cop who insulted the tourist in Condado

Puerto Rico Police Department commissioner Antonio López responded to the video in which an officer was arrested using the patrol’s loudspeaker to make xenophobic remarks and insult a tourist in Condado.

In an interview with WKAQ, the official indicated that an investigation has already been launched into what happened and said he disagreed with this behavior.

“We respect all people who come to Puerto Rico regardless of nationality,” he said in the interview.

According to López, this drug is exposed to a suspension of 40 days or to expulsion from the uniformed person.

In the video where the situation was recorded, a person replying that it was 8:00 am, at which point the officer got upset and started answering him.

“Don’t be a funny idiot, go back to your country and make those comments,” said the uniformed man from inside the patrol. However, the officer did not stop and continued: “There is always someone who comes from another country to make stupid comments and not even slap. Mexican commuter …”.

The changes to the new executive order began last Friday due to the rise reported in the COVID-19 coronavirus on the island. Businesses close at 9am and curfews at 10am. The sale of alcoholic drinks is prohibited from 9:00 am at night.
