Police – NBC 5 Dallas-Fort Worth

Two people were found dead in a house in Old East Dallas on Thursday afternoon, hours after two officers were injured when they were shot when responding to a phone call in the house, Chief Eddie Garcia said.

The agents had responded shortly after 11 a.m. to the 5300 block of Bonita Avenue, near North Henderson Avenue, where the suspect had threatened to hurt his wife, police said.

Garcia said the officers were immediately met by gunfire and two were hit.

The two officers had injuries to their lower legs and were taken to Baylor University Medical Center in stable condition, according to Dallas Police Association director Mike Mata.

He thanked Dallas Fire-Rescue for providing cover for the police to get the injured officers from the crime scene.

At around 1:37 p.m., SWAT agents broke into the house and found a man and a woman dead inside, police said.

“Pray for the deceased victim and her family,” Garcia said in a Tweet.
