According to multiple reports, New York police have arrested a man suspected of a deadly series of knife attacks on homeless people in the city’s subway. Two people were killed and two others were injured within hours in this weekend’s brutal stabbing along the A track. According to the New York Post, the suspect – who has not yet been named – was still smeared with the blood of his victims when he was apprehended, and he carried the knife allegedly used in the massacres.
The frenzy kicked off Friday morning when a 67-year-old man on the platform of 181st St. station was hacked to the ground by a man who reportedly shouted, “I’m going to kill you!” The man survived, but events took a grim turn on Friday night when a man’s body was found in a pool of blood on a subway station at an A-line station in Queens. A few hours later, a woman who had been stabbed repeatedly was found dead under a train seat. Another man was stabbed while sleeping in a stairwell on an A-line station, but he managed to get help from a nearby bank and is said to be in stable condition. Police have not yet revealed details of a possible motive, but said the victims would be homeless. “We know one of the victims was asleep … Everything was unprovoked,” Brian McGee, deputy chief of the NYPD, said at a news conference on Saturday.
