Police find kittens in ‘suspicious package’

NEW MIAMI, Ohio (AP) – A police bomb squad responding to a suspicious package at a church in Ohio made an unexpected discovery: six newborn kittens and their mother in a duffel bag.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office says the bomb counter was called to a church in New Miami on Thursday. When the responding agents heard spiders instead of ticks from the black bag, they used their X-ray equipment to see what was inside.

The daytime kittens and their mother were found along with a note saying they were born on Wednesday.

“Mama’s name is Sprinkles,” the note said. “She started giving birth at 2 pm”

A post on the sheriff’s office Facebook page said mom and kittens are “doing well and being warm, cozy and fed.” They were housed in a local human society.
