This was the second case of sexual harassment that took place during the final scrutiny of the last election, the first being that of Roberto Silva against Deputy Karina Sosa and former MP Daniela Genovez, both of the FMLN.

Silva was sent to prison for the crime of violence against it and was given a first hearing on March 12. He is also being tried for the crimes of illegal dissemination of information and harassment using information technologies, as reported by the Public Prosecution Service.

The trial has been investigated, so the inmate will remain in prison while the prosecution continues the investigation.

Silva, who runs a YouTube channel whose content is related to the Nayib Bukele government and the New Ideas Party (NI), was singled out by the victims for “defamation and violent attacks on them.”

The events took place in a hotel in San Salvador, where the Supreme Electoral Tribunal (TSE) carried out the final scrutiny of the Feb. 28 parliamentary and municipal elections. Silva entered the hotel with an accreditation identifying himself as employees of Radio El Salvador.

“Today we have obtained a historical resolution in El Salvador. A resolution that sets a precedent, a precedent in which we must work in the country to eradicate violence against women, ”said the prosecutor in the case.
