Police confirmed in a press conference this afternoon that David Emanuel Rivera Batiz, whose body was found yesterday in Santurce, was the author of the shooting that ended the three agents’ lives in Carolina last Monday.
Rivera Batiz, 25, had been identified as a resident of Ponce and was found on Calle San José, intersection with marginal Muñoz Rivera with a sign that read “I’m responsible for the murder of the guard … Here he is.”
“Today we are going to present to you both some photos that establish a link between the person found in the Santurce area and the person responsible for committing these murders,” said Police Station Commissioner Antonio López Figueroa.
Officers Luis Salamán Conde, Eliezer Hernández Cartagena and Luis Marrero Díaz were killed by Rivera Batiz who fired at the officers without a word during an event that began as a vehicle intervention in front of Mundo Feliz’s condominium.
He allegedly stole the white Hyundai Accent from where he opened fire with a rifle on the officers.
López Figueroa added that this is “without a doubt” responsible.
The commissioner assured that this investigation will be continued due to possible additional evidence that may arise.
The police made two rounds of confrontation with photos that made identification possible.
Rivera Batiz was a member of the FARC in Ponce and police confirmed he is linked to the murder of Pinky Curvy last October.
The young man’s mother is said to have been the one to identify his body in Forensic Sciences after he was found at dawn Tuesday.
According to the authorities, “there was no doubt” that this was the culprit.
