Police arrest man in kidnapping in Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. Police have arrested the man accused of assaulting and kidnapping a woman in a Chesterfield neighborhood on Saturday night.

Chesterfied police were called to the N. White Mountain Drive and Rotunda Lane area on Saturday around 7:45 PM to report a “suspicious incident”.

When officers arrived, they watched a homeowner’s surveillance video taken at 7:00 p.m. showing someone leaving a vehicle, attacking a woman and forcibly putting her in the vehicle.

The vehicle will then leave the area and turn right onto N. Enon Church Road.

The woman was found safe on Sunday, police said in an email around 12:20 p.m.

Detectives identified the suspect as 26-year-old Drequan Maurice Franklin.

Franklin was taken into custody and has been charged with kidnapping, domestic violence, possession of a Schedule I or II drug, and possession of a firearm while in possession of a Schedule I or II drug.

He is currently being held without bond in Chesterfield County Jail.
