Point Fortin businessman Evril “Tony” Jeffrey was shot several times because police believe it was a home invasion Friday night.

He was pronounced dead at San Fernando General Hospital.

The incident took place at Jeffrey’s 16th Street home, Techier Village.

Jeffrey owned an electronic store in Point Fortin. He also worked at Atlantic, Point Fortin.

The Express was told that Jeffrey was a community activist and an acquaintance in Point Fortin.

He was also president of the Fyzabad Anglican Secondary School.

Neighbors reported that gunshots were heard around 4 p.m. Three men were running from the scene.

Researchers are expected to view images from closed-circuit cameras in the area.

Residents of Point Fortin have expressed fear and grief over Jeffrey’s death.

“My deepest condolences to the family. Point Fortin has really suffered a great loss. He was a family man and a community builder,” said one person.

Another person said, “We don’t know why this sincere, hardworking, loving person was called from work to reward. But what we know is that God is in control.”

A member of the Fyzabad Secondary School PTA stated, “My Jeffrey has given many. He was a gem to us with the president of the Fyzabad Anglican Secondary PTA.”
