The opposition Dominican Liberation Party (PLD) yesterday announced the transformations organized by that organization during the virtual general plenary meetings where it was approved to re-elect the current members of the central committee and agreed to take about 300 new positions that create a body consisting of no fewer than 955 members who will remain in office for four years.
“The president, vice presidents and general secretary may not hold office in the Dominican state or be candidates for elective positions. In the event that they decide to aspire to an elective, they must relinquish the party functions they hold before expressing their ambitions, ” says one of the decisions taken by the 19th, 20th plenary sessions. and 21st of this month, as part of the decisions of the IX José Joaquín Bidó Medina Ordinary Congress.
In addition, a transitional paragraph was approved indicating that the Central Committee will consist of its current 460 members, the legislators, mayors and municipalities elected in the March and July elections in the March and July elections in the period 2021-2025. The PLD has also established an Advisory Committee, which will consist of the members of the Political Committee who are not part of this body.
It was approved to reduce the party’s militancy from ten to five years as one of the prerequisites for being a member of the Central Committee, which, according to what they said, will give young people the opportunity to access that body.
They also set up the Electoral Justice Commission, a body charged with regulating the party’s internal electoral processes.
Modernization
Likewise, a center for political training and government management will be implemented within the party, which will function as a body of study for political, electoral and public administration issues. “One aspect of particular importance in the approvals is the one referenced to further strengthen the modernization of the organization, where it is determined that the PLD will be in a digital or electronic party format, which will allow for all the processes required for the online partying. implemented and managed, for which it will migrate its manual processes to electronic and / or virtual formats, ensuring efficiency and improving political outcome, ”said a document.
