The PlayStation Store is officially set to have one of the biggest sales of the year in a matter of days. Despite offering tons of other big discounts to coincide with last month’s holiday season, this week’s sale is arguably the biggest the platform has offered to date.
Spotted by videogame deals finder @ Wario64 on Twitter, PlayStation Store’s annual “Holiday Sale” has been confirmed to start later this week on Tuesday, December 22. The limited-time event will go live on its normal date and, like all of Sony’s weekly deals, the only difference this time around is that this sale will definitely feature a lot more games than usual. Most digital storefronts tend to go all out with discounts around this time of year, and PlayStation is no different.

The only downside is that we clearly don’t know which games will be included in this sale for now. PlayStation has simply said that starting December 22nd, potential consumers can take advantage of “massive savings on essential games and add-ons.” That said, soon enough we’ll likely get a full rundown of all the deals on offer from PlayStation, in addition to a variety of other details.
But before this Christmas sale started, PlayStation still has the “end of year deals” right now. This current promotion offers discounts of up to 80% with standout games such as Dark Souls III, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, Resident Evil 2, and Monster Hunter: World being some of the many titles that are on sale. However, this promotion ends before the Christmas sale goes live, so you won’t have much more time to shop for groceries.
When we take a look at all the games scheduled to be part of this upcoming PlayStation Store sale, we’ll be sure to let you know. Until then, you can follow all of our other coverage of the platform here.
So what do you hope to see appear in this week’s Christmas sale? And do you think there will be a discount on any notable PlayStation 5 games or will this mainly have to do with games on the PlayStation 4? Let me know in the comments or drop me a line on Twitter @ Jeroen1988 to chat more.
