The vice-president of the republic, Raquel Peña, announced that a plane with 500,000 doses of vaccines has already taken off from China and is scheduled to arrive in the country on Wednesday afternoon.
The plane is scheduled to fly via Brussels to Dominican territory at 4:30 in the afternoon. Peña indicated that with the arrival of the vaccine batch, the National Vaccination Plan will be strengthened from Thursday, restarting the inoculation of the first doses to people over 68 years old.
“We announce that a plane with 500,000 doses of vaccines has just taken off from China, Bandera de China, which will arrive in our country Bandera de la República Dominicana tomorrow afternoon. As long as we continue to receive batches of vaccines, we will continue to vaccinate! According to one of the tweets published by the vice president tonight.
He reiterated that the person who comes to one of the vaccination centers on Thursday and accompanies an adult over 75 to administer their first dose can also be vaccinated.

The Dominican Republic is one of the countries in the region with the highest number of people vaccinated against the coronavirus, of which there were more than a million beneficiaries at the end of March, according to data from the Ministry of Health.
By that date, 101,528 people had already received their second dose.

The number of samples processed in the country since the start of the pandemic is 1,374,857, which is equivalent to 131,584 per million inhabitants.
