Pistons that trade Derrick Rose for Knicks for Dennis Smith Jr. – The Athletic

After a week of waiting and deliberation, the Pistons have found a trading partner for Derrick Rose.

General manager Troy Weaver has been content with the Knicks, who have almost reached an agreement to expel 23-year-old point guard Dennis Smith Jr. and sending a draft fee for Rose to Detroit, sources tell The Athletic.

Rose sat out Detroit’s last three games – first for an “upset stomach,” then “rest,” then “personal reasons -” while the Pistons simultaneously spoke with several teams from the league to find a good trading partner.

According to sources, Rose and the Pistons agreed that a transaction would be best for both parties. Detroit, which is 5-17 and in the midst of a remodel, is moving more towards its youth as the season progresses, while Rose can still give a significant spark to a team in playoffs. The former MVP has averaged 14.2 points and 4.2 assists this season.

For Detroit, commerce is fulfilling its wishes …
