Pinellas Tweaking Vaccine Appointment Process for Seniors

It’s been a frustrating process for many seniors trying to book their COVID-19 vaccine appointments.

Now Pinellas County is making some changes to hopefully improve the process.

Rather than having to call to get your appointment, the Pinellas health department is now contacting seniors when it is their turn to get vaccinated.

Residents must be registered.

Pinellas County started using the new software last month to try to mitigate the problems people had with the old system, which kept crashing.

However, the new software was still not flawless.

Residents 65 or older who pre-registered will now receive a text message or email when vaccination appointments become available.

Once they receive that message, they have 48 hours to make appointments for both doses of the vaccine.

The County will only contact as many people as vaccines are available, in the order they signed up. Only one text message or email will be sent.
