Pikmin 3 Deluxe is officially the best-selling entry in the series in Japan

Pikmin has never been one of Nintendo’s major franchises in terms of units sold, but it’s good to know that the most recent entries – Pikmin 3 Deluxe – has achieved some commercial success in Japan.

Total physical sales of the game – an update of the Wii U original – in Nintendo’s homeland are now at 513,225 copies, meaning the Switch title has sold out the original GameCube. Pikmin, which achieved 502,996 sales over its lifetime, but was later reissued on the Wii.

By way of contrast, the original Wii U version of the Pikmin 3 only managed to move 232,313 units in Japan.
