Pierluisi says that acting secretary will remain in education

Governor Pedro Pierluisi remains steadfast in that attorney Jesús González remains as interim secretary for the Ministry of Education, despite the rejection of the Puerto Rico Senate.

“I have asked Mr. González to temporarily hold command of the Department until he appoints the secretary and the Senate gives him permission,” the president said.

Pierluisi, who assures in the written statements that he recognizes the Senate’s right to “express its feelings about the appointment”, assures that he has a constitutional responsibility that the bureau “be in control at all times”.
