Sunday is National Hot Chocolate Day and to celebrate, Pepsi is handing out free samples of its “Cocoa” Cola to fans of the carbonated drink. A contest on the beverage maker’s Twitter account allows fans to submit a photo of themselves bundled with a mug of hot chocolate. 2,500 participants who do so will be rewarded with two cans of the upcoming drink, an ironic approach with a cocoa-flavored drink. The competition will only last until February 1.
According to the company, Pepsi “Cocoa” Cola “is a delightful twist on nostalgia and has just the right blend of cocoa and Pepsi cola. The milk chocolate base has vanilla undertones, giving every sip a creamy taste. when you are looking for a delicious treat to sweeten these winter days. “

“There’s nothing more classic than hot chocolate on a winter’s day, but this year was anything but typical,” Pepsi’s marketing head Todd Kaplan said in a press release announcing the drink for the first time. “So why not combine the delicious taste of a Pepsi with the delicious, wintery taste of chocolate and marshmallow and bring some unexpected joy to our fans this season? We’re confident we’ve nailed Pepsi “Cocoa” Cola and can’t wait to get our hands on it from cola fans this winter. “
The company hosted similar content to the limited release of Pepsi Apple Pie around Thanksgiving last year. That drink is now making an insane premium on online marketplaces such as eBay.
“Failure to bake – especially this year – is nothing to be ashamed of, and we’re celebrating those amateur bakers who are really doing their best during a unique holiday season,” Kaplan said in a separate statement last November. “With Pepsi Apple Pie, we’re putting a refreshingly delicious twist on the traditional slice of apple pie, while making sure people have fun and don’t take themselves too seriously in the process.”
