People are vaccinated against COVID out of phase so as not to miss any doses

The Adjutant General of the National Guard, General José Reyes, confirmed that in Puerto Rico people who are not in the stages have been vaccinated against the coronavirus COVID-19.

In an interview with WKAQ, Reyes stated that “what can happen as you approach closing time at noon, when you have the bottles open, you should use them. If the people we were going to go to, say at the National Guard vaccination center, where we have 14, we are done with the group and have one, two or even three doses left, because we have to take advantage of them ”.

Reyes even explained that in the effort to vaccinate the Ministry of Education staff, they have a plan to contact outside people if there is a remaining dose ready to be used at the time.

Today, the designated Secretary of the Ministry of Health, Carlos Mellado, indicated that the vaccination process will be paralyzed for first responders to focus on older adults. This guideline states that teachers and employees of the Education Department will continue to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

According to the general, about 250,000 people have been vaccinated in Puerto Rico.

With regard to the elderly, in a population of 600,000, the director of the health vaccination program, Iris Cardona, indicated that 50,225 have already been vaccinated.
