Miami is a long way from Wisconsin, but that didn’t stop House Speaker Nancy Pelosi from referring to senior state senator Ron Johnson as actor Don Johnson.
On Thursday, the California Democrat on her weekly newsletter condemned Johnson, a Republican, as “taking the lead” in the GOP’s response to the January 6 riot at the Capitol.

Told about the confusion between the ardent supporter of former President Donald Trump and the pastel star of the 1980s series ‘Miami Vice’, Pelosi corrected herself while chuckling.
Senator, let me call him. Not “Miami Vice” or anything like that. Don Johnson, ”said Pelosi.
Ron Johnson appears to be leading the way on how we protect our country from domestic terrorism, she added.

“If you think that’s an accident, you don’t know Nancy,” Ponytail said in a tweet.
Elyse said there is no comparison between the two Johnsons.
“Okay, slip of the tongue, but we all know Miami Vice’s Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson) was waaaay cooler than any politician, and he put the bad guys in jail too,” the post said. “He made five o’clock shadows, no socks, pastel clothes, totally hot.”
Johnson, the senator, has tried to lessen the severity of the uprising in the Capitol, wondering if members of the crowd were actually armed and claiming that “agent provocateurs” were behind the melee and not Trump supporters.
At the press conference, Pelosi overturned Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell, who called for her proposal to appoint a Jan. 6 committee to investigate the riot “by intent partisan”.
She said McConnell “took a page from Senator Johnson’s book.”
