Patriots to sign Jalen Mills

The patriots just won’t stop. After signing Jonnu Smith Of which Godchaux, and Matt Judon to big deals, New England adds another high-profile player.

The Pats sign a defensive back Jalen MillsAgent Drew Rosenhaus tells ESPN.com’s Adam Schefter (Twitter linkInterestingly, Rosenhaus also represents both Smith and Godchaux, so clearly he and Bill Belichick have a good relationship. It’s a four-year deal for Mills, worth $ 24 million, of which $ 9 million is guaranteed. The Patriots have been the most active team to date, and it’s not even close.

New England joined free agency with lots of cap space, and they didn’t want to waste it. A seventh-round pick for the Eagles in 2016, Mills quickly established himself as a starter and was a big part of the team that defeated the Patriots in Super Bowl LII when he started 15 games that year.

Known for its versatility, Mills has extensive experience in both cornerback and safety. Foot injuries limited him to just eight and nine games in 2018 and 2019, but in 2020 he started again 15. Last year, he finished with 74 tackles, 1.5 sacks, three defended passes and an interception.
