Germán “Patón” Mejía surprised this Monday by announcing his departure from Olympia after several days of negotiating the extension.
Through his official account at Twitter, Patón thanked the board and the coach Pedro Troglio for the treatment they gave him.
“It is with a lot of pain that I write these lines; after 10 years at the Olimpia club I am leaving. I do it with the intention of seeking new challenges, the belief of building a better future for my family. God for the opportunity to belong to this institution, to any member of the various technical bodies who believed in me, especially the professor Troglio, ”he said on Twitter.
And he added: ‘For the guideline led by the lawyer Rafael Villeda, my admiration and respect. I appreciate your unconditional support. For the fans, none of this would be possible without you. Your encouragement and commitment to the club further enhanced my commitment and desire to be the heart and soul of this club. Olympia is what it is for you. Blessings to all, I carry you in my heart and I hope to one day return to this, my house, and to you; my family”.

These words took the president by surprise Villeda who had not expected such news since they negotiated the renovation of the albos.
Villeda asked Mejía that if there were no offer abroad that could be offered to him, he hopes it will be in the two-time champion.
