Dozens of El Pasoans arrived this morning to receive their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine against Covid-19 at the self-service clinic at the Walmart Cielo Vista branch.
Located in the parking lot of the Walmart branch at 7101 Gateway Blvd W., the makeshift clinic was set up yesterday afternoon where blue tents were set up and immunization areas demarcated with supermarket carts.
The company’s pharmacy personnel began injecting vaccines into people in Texas who meet the current stage of vaccine eligibility, company officials reported.
Patricia Arroyo, a 62-year-old from El Paso who received the vaccine this morning, said she was pleased that “there were more options for getting the vaccine.”
“I am pleased that there are more and more places to get the vaccine. We know there are very few and many people are waiting to receive it, but me and my family were finally able to register here at Walmart ”.
He added that for several months he has tried unsuccessfully to register with the City and UMC vaccination sites.
“I’ve been trying to register since December. I understand there are few vaccines and a lot of people, but I now have more confidence in protecting myself and my family, ”he added.
According to store employees, the space has two tents to deliver the vaccine and a waiting area, where residents have to wait 15 minutes to rule out possible side reactions.
The company announced yesterday that it doesn’t require insurance or cost to get the vaccine, and appointments for the second vaccine will be made during the first appointment, Walmart reported.
In addition, he expects these events to take place in the coming weeks, as allocation allows and as long as stocks of vaccines are exhausted.
Eligible patients can schedule an appointment for vaccines by visiting the company’s website: www.walmart.com/COVIDvaccine on their cell phone or computer.
