My anniversary is coming up and I still haven’t gotten anything to my wife. I know, I know, I am awful! But how do you celebrate a full year of life with the Coronavirus

I don’t think it’s a good idea to invite friends over to a party.

Should I give my wife a mask? Sweatpants? Bleaching?

Can you believe we’ve all been living in a pandemic for a whole year? That’s right, just 12 months ago we were doing strange things with friends, like shaking hands or hugging each other, or meeting them for dinner without fear of people dying.

Just a year. It’s amazing how time really is not fly past.

It may have been a grueling 12 months, but I want to focus on the positives for a moment.

Okay, enough of that.

No, really, have been for the past 12 months interesting, but I’d be lying if I didn’t admit that I’ve learned a few things:

  • I’ve found that cooking for my family over the past year has meant that I’m still not a good cook.
  • I found that if I don’t eat a huge block of cheese at midnight and don’t drink half a bottle of bourbon, I won’t wake up terribly the next morning. I think I should keep discovering that lesson.
  • I have found that it takes longer to get groceries delivered online than grocery shopping in person.
  • I’ve learned that using talk-to-text is the most efficient way to get on anyone’s nerves.
  • And finally, and most importantly, after spending just about every moment of every day for the past 12 months with my five kids, I’ve learned that I’m no longer afraid of Harry Chapin’s song, “Cat’s in the Cradle”:

“When are you coming home, Dad?”
“I do not know when
But then we come together
Then you know that you will have a good time. ‘

Congratulations everyone!
