Padres get another pitcher with Pirates instead

According to reports presented on the afternoon of Monday January 18, San Diego Padres would have reached an agreement to sign pitcher Joe Musgrove, of the Pittsburgh Pirates. This as part of the moves that the San Diego team is making for the start of the 2021 MLB season.

ESPN journalist and MLB insider Jeff Passan, San Diego Padres are about to sign an agreement to take over from Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Joe Musgrove. Passan adds that his sources have stated that the negotiation depends solely on medical evidence.

Joe Musgrove, a right-hand pitcher, would come to Padres in exchange for a tall “group” of young prospects who would go to Pirates. Among them could be the organization’s well-regarded center fielder prospect Hudson Head.

Musgrove has five years of experience as a pitcher in MLB for teams such as the Houston Astros and Pittsburgh Pirates. He will likely compete for fifth place on the grid in a Padres rotation that they have gradually strengthened and will be led by newcomer Yu Darvish.

Joe Musgrove has a record of 29-38 in games won and lost, as well as an ERA of 4.33. Of his five MLB seasons, the first two were with the Astros and were later traded to Pittsburgh in 2018.
