Packers cite RB Jamaal Williams as questionable for week 16 vs. Titans

The Green Bay Packers rookie AJ Dillon walks back may have his greatest shot at the NFL level on Sunday night against the Tennessee Titans.

The Packers called Jamaal Williams’ (quad) backup as questionable for Week 16, likely robbing Matt LaFleur of his favorite complementary run alongside Aaron Jones and giving Dillon – the team’s second-round pick – a chance to contribute meaningfully during a primetime matchup against one of the AFC’s top teams.

Dillon, who missed five games while on the COVID-19 reserve list, has driven 24 times at 115 yards in the 2020 season. He has yet to run more than five times in a single game, but his workload could increase significantly as the offense is likely to be the No. 2 returning Sunday night.

A key player, Williams injured his leg after a flyout against the Carolina Panthers and did not return. He was unable to participate at all during training this week.

The Packers also ruled out tight ending Jace Sternberger (concussion) and security Will Redmond (concussion) and security guard Simon Stepaniak (knee) as questionable.

Despite an injury list of 20 players during the week, the Packers did not give an injury rating to 16 players, meaning all 16 will play on Sunday.

The Titans ruled out linebacker Derick Roberson, but removed 12 other players from the injury record.
