Outriders demo is rebalanced after gear farmers go HAM

Farming as if it were Stardew Valley

Many people enjoyed the People Can Fly team shooter demo Outriders, with as many as two million players logging in to battle over the wasteland of the planet Enoch.

In fact, people have played the demo again that much times, when they begin to build a disturbingly powerful arsenal of weapons – so much so that the developer steps in to change the ease with which mercenaries can harness this devastating firepower. The concern is that this intense method of “farming” top-tier gear and weapons will absolutely leave players in front of the bear once the main game finally hits, and they will endlessly defeat the opposition during the main campaign.

Speaking in an official Reddit post, People Can Fly noted that it is good for the player to play the demo as many times as they want, and bring all the goodies along the way, but it may hinder their enjoyment of the lead role . game, which allows players to bring their inventory and levels from the demo edition.

The new update – which goes live in the Outriders demo today – removes any chance of finding Legendary gear in chests, shops, and sellers, though will as a reward for completing side quests, or as exceptionally lucky drops from defeated enemies. People Can Fly hopes this will reduce the likelihood of the entire community rocking to Outriders, similar to Schwarzenegger sitting on the beach in Command.

Outriders launches April 1 on PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Stadia. Stay tuned as our own Chris Carter’s thoughts on the demo should hit Destructoid today.
